Live/Wire - Diary - Woodford Halse

A name that doesn’t USUALLY stand out as being the rock and roll capital of anywhere. So it’s all the more impressive that our show at the Wood ford Halse Sports & Social Club did so well. It’s a lovely venue too. Great acoustics. Nothing is too much trouble for Barry & Maz, the promoters. So when everything is in place, you just have to tear it down, dontcha?!!!

There was a heavy Forum presence, with two rather, um, international, surprises! Bad Boy Boogie (Steve) and Emma, Paul & Ginny, long suffering Vic and new Forum setting up suffering Angie, Daymo and all the way from the USA (!) -  Amber & Kelly –  otherwise known as Southern Grown & RiffRaff. The first item on their agenda, after stepping off the aircraft, was to come and see little old us! What a coup…. Kelly got into the spirit, downing anything alcoholic in double quick time & Amber & Angie (whose names both begin with the letter ‘A’), got down to much hugging & nattering………Daymo looked on with his usual sartorial elegance………..

Powered by ‘Kin Good Sound, Beef Janks coaxed a wonderful sound out of his large, throbbing………system. We screamed, the crowd screamed back for more. Being our first gig for about 4 weeks, which is a rarity for Live/Wire, there were a few cobwebs that needed blowing away and Beef’s new 18’’ monitors did just that! So, when the dust had settled, another good job done.

Live/Wire thanks go to Barry & Maz – for taking care of us, Angie & Vic – for all your help once again, ‘Kin Good Sound – does exactly what it says on the tin and our Forum crew – always good to see you having a blast. Plus I didn’t even begin to mention carrots, or the M20, or turning up in St Albans instead of Heathrow, or the Merch stand being photographed, or being told that the last time we had been seen was at Donington 1991………Just blame the Absolut………Hic.
