Live/Wire - Diary - The Autumn Report
Well, the fall of leaves is now well upon us and the Live/Wire autumn tour is well and truly rolling with a full coalbox and all wheels greased and the steam is up to giving maximum tractive effort.
Pete (Brian) joined the band in September with his first 'Official' show at Bolton Albert Halls on the 19th. he's already receiving rave reviews for his Uncanny Canny voice !! He seemed well at home in all the Victorian splendour in the venue that Peter Kay made famous.
The 20th Sept saw a return to The Citadel, arriving early to navigate their notorious St Helens one way system and roundabouts. This one was a Bon night only and judging by the feedback you all had a fantastic, electric night, and sound problems on stage didn't phase the band.
October came fast and the band made their first visit to the Pacific Road Arts Centre, Birkenhead, an old tram museum turned into a state of the art venue with huge PA, stage and great crew headed up by Steve. Nigel did a great job on the sound and the lights guy was equally polished. The crowd came and made it a noisy evening south of the Mersey, We salute you !
It has been well documented in the past that the band get a big following any time they get up to North Lincolnshire and the gig at The Beachcomber, Cleethorpes was no exception. a capacity crowd kept it up all night and looked like they were having a ball from start to finish. When the band had encored it was the turn of Riff Ratt sounds disco to bring the night to an end with a stunning rock playlist packed with classics, even a bit of Pink Floyd for the General and Shakey.............Shine on you crazy Diamonds !!
A Double Diamond weekend followed and Saturday night in particular was sweltering and absolutely packed out. many thanks to Gary and June for their hospitality.
Next ports of call were The Robin, Bilston and the Islington Carling Academy. A rockin night at the Robin followed by a special evening in London. The Basildon crew had been on the forum signalling their intention of travelling up from Essex in a stretch limo..............they duly arrived after a hefty working out on the drinks cabinet hinges and were let in earty at the end of the sound check.
An impromptu allcomers version of touch too much (piccies on the forum) followed by the Essex X factorors...................Bizarre !!
The gig itself was superb, with Bananman in the audience and the crowd and the band taking it in turns to lift each other somewhere very special supported by a superb light and sound effort by the Islington staff. Jonbon also had his first Tom Jones moment (something becoming toooooooooo regular) at the show, a Diamonte G string...........Nice !!
Next up after travelling down to the Smoke was a little excursion to Bourne in Lincolnshire.............chalk then cheese !!
A super spread of various meat and salad sandwiches, sausage rolls, pork pies, mince pies, lemon curds, jam tarts, crisps, jelly, blacmange, doughnuts, éclairs, Tea. coke, lemonade, red bull and lager helped the guys energise ready for the show.
And Little England served up a great night with a capacity crowd thoroughly enjoying the night. Thanks to Bourne and all of South Lincolnshire who were probably without food for a week (we had it all !! LOL).
Next up and another first for the band, Tewkesbury and The Roses Theatre, a beautiful seated venue in the heart of Gloucestershire.
A sold out show with plenty of youngsters (the next generation of Rock fans) in attendance with BAJ sound as huge as ever and the venue very helpful throughout.
