Live/Wire - Diary - Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Our Springhead double header week started like any other with the usual 'how are you getting there ?' and 'Is there a room for me ?' banter on email. With Johnbon suffering car trouble he made his way up to Newark on our beloved rail network to meet the fit again Shakey and the General. The idea being that John would get up to Retford and Daz would meet him at the station before picking up Shakey and then traversing to Kingston upon Hull. We didn't count on Daz passing one of our smaller Airports, Gamston and driving straight into some chaos caused by a snarl up on the A1........by the way it looks like they are gonna make a road out of it one day !! however, Daz wasn't A1 and had some choice words about my suggested route............His next port of call - Retford and I also forgot to tell him that my side of the place is closed for sewer renewals. During the lost hour of Daz's Bassetlaw crawling John rings from Newark and we find that his next train and our route cannot meet so it's back on the Steel Horse for him and don't spare 'em Casey Jones til you get up to Herrrrrlllllll !!Daz eventually gets to mine in Gainsborough (once the seat of the country you know ! ) still spitting it out about the 'Bloody A1'.

Next milestone was sunset on the Humber Bridge, and upon taking the momentous photos on my mobile phone camera I remarked to Daz that it was unbelievable to get the moon in as well !!..................  ' where's that then' he says surprised ?     Then I realized that it was the reflection of the phones camera light on the inside of the van window............D*ckhead !

TatooineCan you tell............. or are we on Tatooine ?

Even with all this logistical lolloping we all get to The Springhead in time for a good soundcheck. The place and it's people have been good to the band over the years and Terry and Pam deserve thanks for all the good times past and the good times to come as they prepare for alterations to further enhance the music side of the pub in the new year.

Nice to see Neil and Beccs out and about..........it's been a while and with Scarborough Dave in attendance it wasn't long into the set before they were holloring for thunderstruck...........guys you know the score by now, it's comes later D'oh !

As the set progresses a couple of girlies enter the stage and start banging away (heads !! LOL) and one of them takes a special interest in Tink, getting herself between him and his gretsch for some 'mal action'. Luckily they stay away from me. My swinging precision bass is fatal !

On the saturday night we had a good crowd in even though the boys (Rugby) were on ! Shame they couldn't finish the job. We reintroduced a few numbers.......Go Down went down a storm and Down Payment Blues and Touch Too Much got their first Hull airing since Tink joined.

There was a great vibe all weekend and it was great to get back playing with the guys, indeed it was an honour !!

All the best

Shakey
