Angus News - Announcement

Its now a couple of months since Lorne announced he'd called time on his four years with Live/Wire.

We'd like to thank everyone who came along during auditions for the role and we'd especially like to thank Ricky who stood in for six shows during the summer and did himself proud. Ricky we salute you !

The Band has took its time in making sure it found someone who would not just give the same quality of show you are all used to but positively enhance performances both in the playing, energy and repertoire side of the music. This band will as always try to put the audience slap bang in the middle of the show.

With this in mind we are pleased to introduce Ash (ASHGUS or ANGASH, should we have a poll ?) to Live/Wire.

Ash is a young man that hails from that Standard bearing area of Rock Music the West Midlands, and has been an AC/DC fan since he can remember.

We wish him well and hope you all get to witness his talent, we have and are very excited.

Rhodes Rock 2012.................get ready

A Unique Greek festival celebrating the very best Classic Rock music, played live by Europe's foremost tribute bands at Lindos on Rhodes.

For those of you that have previously enjoyed the music of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top, AC/DC, Foreigner and Journey, played live in a stadium or theatre, whether by the great originals or a top tribute band, this event will truly add another dimension to the experience.

Think Floyd, Letz Zep, Are You Experienced? , The ZZ Tops, Livewire & A Foreigners Journey, the foremost U.K. tribute bands will be playing music from that classic rock era, at a venue like no other. The beautiful Greek island village of Lindos next to the Aegean Sea.

The white sugar cube houses clustered at the foot of the ancient acropolis, the sandy beaches, the tavernas, restaurants & bars &, of course, the friendly locals make it one of the favourite holiday destinations for those in the know.

Since the early 1960's many people return year after year unable to do without their annual Lindos fix whilst others have succumbed totally & moved there. In the early years this Aegean paradise was a haven for foreign artists, writers & musicians whilst in the 70's tourism began to play it's part & the locals began to convert some of their houses into pensions, tavernas & bars with sunbeds & umbrellas beginning to appear on the beaches.

As well as famous actors, writers & artists, Pink Floyd also made the village one of their homes in the early 70's & David Gilmour still owns a villa in the village. David's family still visit regularly & sometimes the great man himself returns to see his many friends in Lindos. Other rock stars have been regular visitors over the years sometimes staying in David's house. However, please be aware that locals & regular visitors always respect their privacy & if you come to Lindos & by chance you see a familiar face you will be expected to do the same.

Among the bands' friends are bar owners & restauranteurs who can sometimes be persuaded to re-tell some of the anecdotes of life with Pink Floyd. Try Dimitris & Michalis Mavrikos' restaurant in the village square or Socrates' Bar where there is the constant sound of great classic rock music & photos of Socrates with various rock stars on the 400 year old walls.

This week long festival of Classic Rock takes place in the magical village of Lindos with 2 show nights at Pauls Bay in the shadow of the 2,500 year old Acropolis and the Think Floyd show in front of the ancient amphitheatre.

There will also be parties with the bands with extra performances in the week for those that book the official travel package with us. Entry is free & exclusive to our guests. Food will be available at extra cost.

Imagine it ! Flying to the beautiful Greek island of Rhodes with a plane full of Floyd, Zeppelin, Hendrix, ZZ Top, AC/DC, Foreigner and Journey fans for company & a week or two in the sun seeing where it all happened in the 70's & 80's & talking to the people who were there. And the bands will be around during the week to talk to & buy drinks for !!
